The Incredible Years® Series SEL Interventions for Children
Rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL), The Incredible Years® early intervention programs for children use dinosaur-themed materials and life-size puppets to engage children and strengthen social, emotional, and academic skills. We offer a small group treatment program delivered by group leaders to small groups of children ages 4-8 years and a classroom prevention program delivered by group leaders/teachers to an entire classroom of students ages 3-8 years.
Training workshops to equip group leaders with the skills needed to deliver the programs are purchased separately from the program sets below.
Classroom Dinosaur Child Program (Prevention)

Training Information
Initial training prepares group leaders to deliver the program.
This training workshop will present in depth the Classroom Dinosaur Child Program designed by Dr. Webster-Stratton to help prevent behavior problems and promote social competence and emotional literacy in young children. The program focuses on ways for teachers to promote children’s emotional literacy, anger management, appropriate conflict management strategies, expected classroom behaviors, and positive social skills or friendship behaviors with other children and adults.
The curriculum includes over 60 lesson plans for use by teachers for children aged 3-8 (the curriculum is broken up into three “levels” for different developmental stages). The training also includes classroom management strategies that enhance children’s prosocial skills and reduce behavior plans.
The program is appropriate for use by teachers and school counselors for classrooms of students in groups of 18 to 24. It includes circle time, small group activities, and strategies to promote social, emotional, and academic literacy throughout the day.
Small Group Dinosaur Child Program (Treatment)
The Small Group Dinosaur Child Program (Treatment) is an early intervention program delivered by counselors, therapists, or special education teachers to children with conduct problems, ADHD, and internalizing problems. It is delivered in 2-hour weekly small group sessions (6 children per group) for 18-22 weeks. Ideally, it is offered in conjunction with the parenting program group sessions, so parents have an opportunity to foster their children’s learning in Dinosaur School in their interactions with them at home.

This training workshop will present in depth the Dina Dinosaur Child Social Skills, Emotional Regulation & Problem-Solving Training for Children designed by Dr. Webster-Stratton to help young children who have behavior problems. The program focuses on ways to promote children’s emotional literacy, anger management, appropriate conflict management strategies, expected classroom behaviors, and positive social skills or friendship behaviors with other children and adults.
The workshop will cover methods for working with small groups of children including role play, rehearsal, video and live modeling, group discussion, and small group activities. The intervention program is appropriate for use by therapists with small groups of children with behavior problems either in mental health centers or as “pull-out” programs in schools. The program has been shown to be effective in four randomized control group studies with families of children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder.
