Abstract

Our intervention studies may Ье viewed as an indirect test of theoretical models regarding the development of conduct disorders. We started with а simple parenting skills deficit model and have evolved to а more complex interactional model. ln our current model we hypothesize that the child's eventual outcome will Ье dependent on the interrelationships among children, parents, teachers, and peers. Therefore, the most effective interventions should bе those that involve schools, teachers, and the child's peer group. Such programs hold promise for prevention programs, which should bе offered early to high-risk populations, before the disorder develops in the first place.
