Abstract
Les programmes d'entraînement aux habiletés parentales (PEHP) comptent parmi les programmes d’intervention les plus prometteurs pour traiter et prévenir les problèmes de comportement (Hartman, Stage et Webster-Stratton, 2003; Kazdin, 2001; Nock et Kazdin, 2001; Weersing et Weisz, 2002). Ils s'appuient sur l'idée que les parents sont des agents de socialisation de première importance dans le développement des enfants et qu'ils sont les mieux placés pour les soutenir dans leur développement. Ils ont pour but d’aider les parents à mieux gérer les comportements dérangeants de leur enfant afin d'améliorer la qualité de la relation parent-enfant et éventuellement diminuer la fréquence et l'intensité des comportements perturbateurs des enfants (Normandeau et Venet, 2000). Plus précisément, les parents y sont encouragés à adopter des pratiques positives comme le renforcement spécifique et conséquent, l’ignorance intentionnelle et les punitions appropriées, à améliorer leur sensibilité à l’égard de l’enfant et à améliorer la qualité de leur supervision et de leurs habiletés de résolution de problèmes.
